Headteacher, St Augustine's Primary, Tunbridge Wells

Overview

Are you a practising Catholic with a passion for shaping the future of children? Do you have the vision, creativity and leadership skills to inspire a dedicated team? If so, we would be delighted to hear from you. St Augustine’s is a welcoming, one form entry primary school serving the Parish of St Augustine and the wider local community. It is an inclusive school where every child is nurtured, challenged, and encouraged to grow spiritually and academically.

The Kent Catholic Schools’ Partnership (KCSP) is a Multi Academy Trust established by the Archdiocese of Southwark to promote and protect Catholic education across Kent. We are a family of 32 schools (27 primary and 5 secondary) united by our shared mission and Gospel values. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and visionary Headteacher to lead St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Tunbridge Wells from September 2026.

The Role

Reporting to the Area School Improvement Partner, the Headteacher will:

  • Build upon the strong foundations already in place
  • Lead the day‑to‑day management of the school
  • Inspire and develop a talented, enthusiastic staff team
  • Ensure the highest standards of learning, safeguarding, and pastoral care
  • Champion the school’s mission of “Growing together”

We are looking for a leader who can guide the school confidently into its next chapter while remaining firmly rooted in its Catholic identity.

Catholic Leadership

The Headteacher plays a central role in shaping and sustaining the Catholic life of the school. As such, we are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic who will provide inspirational Catholic leadership and be recognised by pupils, families, and the parish as the school’s spiritual and educational leader. For reserved posts within Catholic education, a practising Catholic is defined as someone who:

  • Has been sacramentally initiated into the Catholic Church
  • Lives in accordance with the teachings and moral life of the Church
  • Demonstrates outwardly the faith they hold interiorly, inspired by the Gospel and sustained by God’s grace

This ensures the Headteacher is able to authentically uphold the religious ethos and character of the school.

Visits and Applications

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged. They offer a wonderful opportunity to experience the school’s ethos, community, and environment first hand. Please contact the school office on

01892 529 796 to arrange a visit.

Applications close on Monday, 20 April at 5pm.

Interview dates to be confirmed.
